Are you worried about you or your child's emotional well-being?

Have you or your child been struggling with social interactions or school performance?

Are you looking for ways to support your child's development and happiness?

If you're experiencing these concerns, you're not alone. Many parents feel helpless as they struggle to understand and support their children's emotional needs, and it's natural to want to find ways to help them succeed and be happy.  As teens and young adults, these may be your concerns that you want to work on with the expertise of a therapist.

Our Experience

As a previous school social worker, a parent, and over two decades of experience, I have a deep understanding of the challenges children face in school and in their personal lives. I have served as a case manager and led my school's intervention team, and I have a strong background in the IEP/504 process. In my current practice, I use all of these experiences to advocate for my clients and help them develop the social skills and executive functioning habits they need to thrive both inside and outside of the school setting.

What Young Adult/Adolescent Therapy Addresses

Child/Teen/College counseling can be helpful for addressing a wide range of issues that children and adolescents may be struggling with. This can include things like:

  • Anxiety and stress
  • Depression
  • Difficulty with social interactions
  • Challenges with school performance
  • Behavior problems
  • Grief and loss
  • Trauma and abuse
  • Family Experiences and Expectations

No matter what your child is going through, therapy can provide a supportive and non-judgmental space for them to work through their challenges and develop healthy coping strategies.  We prioritize teamwork with you and help find the right interventions that work for your family.

  • Improving communication and relationships within the family
  • Increasing your child's self-esteem and confidence

Ways we try to help

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

CBT helps you recognize and change negative thought patterns that affect your mood and actions. The way you think influences how you feel, so if you're caught in a cycle of self-doubt or negative thinking, it can impact your confidence and mental health. In CBT, you'll learn how to challenge those thoughts and replace them with more balanced, positive ones. Over time, this can help reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, making it easier to handle daily challenges.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

DBT is all about managing emotions and handling stress in a healthy way. If you struggle with overwhelming feelings, mood swings, or difficulty controlling your reactions, DBT can help. You'll learn skills to cope with intense emotions, improve communication in relationships, and find a balance between self-acceptance and personal growth. It’s about gaining control over your emotions rather than letting them control you.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is often used to help process trauma and painful experiences. Sometimes, difficult memories can feel like they’re stuck on repeat, making it hard to move forward. EMDR guides you through recalling these memories while using eye movements, tapping, or sounds to help your brain reprocess them in a way that feels less overwhelming. Over time, these memories lose their emotional weight, helping you feel more in control and less trapped by the past.
