Do you struggle to find joy in activities that you used to enjoy?

Do you feel stuck in a never-ending cycle of sadness and despair?

Do you lack energy and motivation, and find it hard to get out of bed in the morning?

If so, you are not alone.

Everyone has a low level of sadness at times. You may be feeling extra depressed due to life transitions and situations beyond your control, such as the loss of a loved one, financial stress, or relationship issues. Sometimes, adding the stress is having to navigate new roles and new environments.

Or maybe you don’t even understand what is happening but you don’t feel motivated and are consistently down.  It’s a lot for anyone, and it can also contribute to depression. With social media and previous quarantine protocols, it can be harder than ever to break the cycle of isolating. Images of your friends' "perfect" lives on Snapchat and Instagram can feel like you’ve been left out. This can become an endless cycle of comparing yourself to others and feeling like you're not measuring up.

Sadness can take time to go away, and certain topics will almost always evoke sad feelings. Depression is different, as it can feel like helplessness, hopelessness, or both.

  • We use a range of therapeutic strategies, including but not limited to
    • Cognitive behavioral therapy(CBT)
      • CBT is a type of therapy that helps you identify and change negative thoughts and behaviors. The idea is that how we think influences how we feel and behave. So, if you’re stuck in a pattern of thinking negatively, it can affect your mood and actions. In CBT, you’ll learn how to challenge those unhelpful thoughts and replace them with more realistic, positive ones. Over time, this can help reduce feelings of anxiety, depression, and stress,
    • Dialectical Behavior Therapy(DBT)
      • DBT is similar to CBT but focuses more on managing emotions. It's especially helpful for people who struggle with intense emotions or have difficulty controlling their reactions. Incorporating DBT, you’ll learn how to accept your emotions (without judging yourself), cope with distressing feelings, and develop better skills for handling relationships. It’s about finding a balance between accepting who you are and making changes to improve your life.
    • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing(EMDR)
      • EMDR is a type of therapy that’s often used to help people with trauma. It works by guiding you to recall upsetting memories while engaging in a specific type of eye movement or other forms of bilateral stimulation (like tapping). This process helps the brain reprocess these memories, so they don’t cause as much emotional pain. Over time, the memory feels less overwhelming, and you can start to move forward without being stuck in the past.  David Krzysko is certified in EMDR, schedule with him here
